My 2018 Golden Globe predictions -- the one I think they’re going to give the awards to, not necessarily my personal picks!

(The Golden Globes will be broadcast from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, Jan. 7th at 8/7c on NBC. Seth Meyers will host, and Oprah Winfrey will accept the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award... )

And here are my picks ......

Best Motion Picture, Drama - THE SHAPE OF WATER (I’d probably would pick “Call Me By Your Name” or “The Post”)
Best Actress, Motion Picture, Drama - SALLY HAWKINS, “The Shape of Water” (I
wouldn’t mind Meryl Streep or Michelle Williams taking it, but Frances McDormand really deserves among the others)
Best Actor, Motion Picture, Drama - GARY OLDMAN, “Darkest Hour” (No doubt he will
win both here and the Oscar!)
Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical - LADY BIRD (strongest and most popular
Best Actress, Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical - SAOIRSE RONAN, “Lady Bird” (who else? .. i don’t see any from the others taking this ..)
Best Actor, Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical - JAMES FRANCO, “The Disaster
Artist” (I would go for Ansel Egort just because I love this guy .. Daniel Kaluuya also
deserves this)
Best Supporting Actor, Motion Picture - WILLEM DAFOE (although I think Sam
Rockwell and/or Christopher Plummer also deserve this)
Best Supporting Actress, Motion Picture - ALLISON JANNEY, “I, Tonya” (I would pick
Hong Chau for this, she’s truly remarkable in “Downsizing”)
Best Director - GUILLERMO DEL TORO, “The Shape of Water” (he deserves it,
although I’m also impressed with Ridley Scott and Christopher Nolan)
“The Shape of Water” also has a shot ..)

Best Television Series, Drama - THE HANDMAID’S TALE
Best Actress, Television Series, Drama - CLAIRE FOY, “The Crown” (although,
Elizabeth Moss from “The Handmaid’s Tale” or Maggie Gyllenhall from “The Deuce”
may take it ..)
Best Actor, Television, Drama - STERLING K. BROWN (a favorite but I’d like to see
Jason Bateman of “Ozark” or Freddie Highmore of “The Good Doctor” take this now ..)
Best Television Series, Comedy - THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL (.. or “Will & Grace”
Best Actress, Television Series, Comedy - RACHEL BROSNAHAN “The Marvelous Mrs.
Maisel (I have no idea but she seems to be the best one I think they would give this
award to ..)
Best Actor, Television Series, Comedy - ERIC MCCORMACK, “Will & Grace” ( ... Aziz
Ansari of “Master of None” second pick? ..)
Best Limited Series or TV Movie - BIG LITTLE LIES (no competition?)
Best Actor, Limited Series or TV Movie - maybe KYLE MACLACHLAN? (I like Jude Law
in “The Young Pope”)
Best Actress, Limited Series or TV Movie - NICOLE KIDMAN, “Big Little Lies” (any of
the contenders deserve to win and this category is tough!)
Best Supporting Actress, Television Series - LAURA DERN, “Big Little Lies” (.. I’d go for
Ann Dowd, too.. )
Best Supporting Actor, Television Series - ALEXANDER SKARSGARD, “Big Little Lies” (.. just deserving!)
