The AFI FEST 2006 presented by Audi, which runs November 1 through the 12th, kicked-off its Opening Night with a star-studded black-tie big Premiere at the Graumann’s Chinese Mann Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. on Wednesday.

AFI FEST 2006’s Opening Night film, “Bobby” is garnering an early award season buzz with its all-star packed cast, which includes Oscar-winners Anthony Hopkins and Helen Hunt, along with big-name actors Sharon Stone, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Martin Sheen, Elijah Wood, Joshua Jackson, Lindsay Lohan, Shia LaBeouf, Joy Bryant, Harry Belafonte, Nick Cannon, Lawrence Fishburne, Brian Geraghty, Heather Graham, William H. Macy, Freddy Rodriguez, Christian Slater, Jacob Vargas, and Emilio Esteves (who is also the writer and director of the film), among others.

The film, co-released by the Weinstein Company and MGM Pictures, is the dramatic story of 22 fictional characters whose lives intersect at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 5, 1968, in the hours leading up to the assassination of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy.

AFI FEST presented by Audi, now celebrating its 20th year, is the longest-running film festival in Los Angeles and one of the most influential film festivals in North America. AFI FEST spans 10 days each November, featuring international films from emerging filmmakers, the latest work from great film masters and nightly red carpet gala premieres. With its timing at the beginning of the awards season and its setting in the film capital of the world, the Festival's programs and partnerships all serve to position AFI FEST as one of the most influential film festivals in North America.

AFI FEST yearly program includes International Competitions of Features, Documentaries & Shorts, World Cinema, Latin Cinema Series, Asian New Classics, African Voices, American Directions, Tribute and Retrospective, Galas and Special Screenings.
