Warner Home Video releases 10th Anniversary special edition DVD of Jennifer Lopez’s movie ‘Selena’

JENNIFER Lopez’s breakthrough performance as Tejano star “Selena” will return to DVD as Warner Home Video announces the releases of “Selena: 10th Anniversary Special Edition DVD” on September 18.

Remastered in a two-disc edition, the package includes a “never-before-released” extended film version of the groundbreaking film plus new interviews with Jennifer Lopez, and Selena’s family, deleted scenes and a brand new “making of ‘Selena’ features” among bonus extras.

To promote the special DVD release, Warner Home Video and Universal CityWalk hosted a special screening of the film on Saturday, September 9, 7 p.m. at the giant Astrovision screen located on CityWalk in Universal City.

In the title role of the 1997 biopic about the life and career of Tejano Superstar Selena Quintanilla Perez (1971 to 1995), who at 23 was about to become a crossover sensation, a dream tragically cut short. This is a powerful love story and heart-wrenching biopic. Pulsating with Selena's voice on the soundtrack, the film recreates the life of a little girl who dreamed big and whose concerts became electrifying events. In the title role, Lopez is electrifying. “Selena” is a romantic, musical drama the entire family will love!

Directed by Oscar nominated filmmaker Gregory Nava (“El Norte,” “Frida,” “ My Family,” “Bordertown”) and featuring international entertainer Lopez (“El Cantante,” “Bordertown,” “Monster-In-Law,” “The Cell”) in her groundbreaking performance as Selena with her father Abraham Quintanilla, Jr. played by Academy Award nominee Edward James Olmos (“Blade Runner,” HBO’s “Walkout,” “Stand and Deliver,” “American Family”), her mother Marcela portrayed by Constance Marie (“The George Lopez Show,” “American Family,” “Tortilla Soup,” “My Family”), the role of Selena’s husband, Chris Pérez, is played by Jon Seda (“Close to Home,” “Oz”); and in the role of Yolanda Saldivar, who murdered the Grammy winning artist, is Lupe Ontiveros (“Tortilla Heaven,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Real Women Have Curves”).

This 10th anniversary special edition DVD will be available at major retail store and online stores for $20.97 (SRP) and will include audio and subtitles in English, French and Spanish.
