The Top 24 American Idol – Season 7 semi-finalists were presented to the media and joined the after-party held at the Day After Lounge on Hollywood Boulevard on Valentine’s Day last week. The event was partnered by Fremantle Media Enterprises and Garnier Fructis. Justin Guarini (second place to Kelly Clarkson during first season) and Ace Young (who placed seventh on Season 5) were two of past participants who shared their opinions at the red carpet event.

Justin Guarini, now a tv anchorman and commentator of TV Guide says that “this year, I really think they got it right,” responding to some notations about the group of “newbies” this season. Grammy nominated singer and songwriter Ace Young performed live and sang a few tracks from his upcoming self-titled album.

The semi-finals kicked-off last Tuesday night with 12 guys singing 60’s but only doing average performances, failing to impress the judges. 17 year-old David Archuleta was the night’s commanding performance, though, with the song “Shop Around’ by the Miracles.

On Wednesday, most of the girls showed less average performances due to flu attacks. Among who shined were Aisa’h Epperson and Fil-Am Ramiele Malubay. “You took your time, you built it up, you saved it for the end, you stuck to the melody, you made it your own, almost like a pro,” said Randy to Ramiele. Paula said, “You are a force to be reckoned with!” Simon (who initially did not like her during first elimination rounds) told her that she was the most consistently good singer, and that “tonight, you outsang everyone!”
