My name is Mare Dayco, and I am a Filipina-American pop Singer/Songwriter from Concord, and I was born in SF. I currently reside in Los Angeles. I attended UCLA and was a member of SAMAHANG PILIPINO for 2 Years! I sang for several SIPA events, including the Veterans March thru P-Town. I love everything about SIPA, and am writing to ask for you all to come attend my concert!
I have been given the HEADLINER spot at the Troubadour in Hollywood on Tuesday, January 16th 2007. Doors open at 8pm and tickets will be sold at the door for $10. I have a story of battling a skin illness called psoriasis that may inspire your SIPA members for the new year and to never give up on their dreams, esp. in the arts! I have it from head to foot, and have endured years of chemotherapy treatments and rejection from society due to my appearance.
I am also currently working on a filipino american comedy script for Hollywood and a few books, including a children's book about psoriasis called "me and my psoriasis"
So, again, I am writing you today to ask if you could ask the Fil-AM community to come out and support my show! My dream is to put Asians and Filipinos on the map here in the US when it comes to the music industry! There is so much talent in our Asian/Pacific Islander family that we must prove it and kick the door open for other Asians and Filipinos. I am very proud of my culture! This venue is the #1 Club in Los Angeles, and is well respected. It is where Elton John, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, No Doubt, etc. had their first shows, ...and I will be the first Filipina rocker to grace their stage. :) I am so excited and thrilled!
The show will be on January 16th, 2007 - Tuesday. Doors open at 8pm! Tickets sold for $10. I will be selling my cd's at the show, as well as other merchandise. The rock band RACH is the opening act. They are a pop group of 4 guys that have a Bryan Adams type of 80's sound.
The booker says the venue can be filled with 300-500 people! This is a chance to prove something to the music industry, so I am asking for your help. Waiting to see if I will be on Oprah :) nax talaga!
Please contact me ASAP at (310) 413-5326! I would LOVE to hear from you! Here's to Filipinas making a difference in the entertainment industry in 2007!
