Back 2 Back Side A with Freestyle at The Grove-Anaheim

Side A has always topped the list of the most watched concert performers all over the USA. All members are musical gems as well as versatile. Their varied repertoire has catered to the palette of even the most discriminating taste.

Manila’s audiences come in full force to Side A’s shows -- whether intimate or in a stadium. The group’s most recent successful, sold-out concert with another yet famous band, Freestyle was held in a 5,000-seat venue in Zamboanga City. This just proves that Side A remains to be a musical force to reckon with not only in the Philippines but all over the US and Canada.

Thus, it is just right that KATZ Entertainment along with All Access bring back the glorious music of Side A back-to-back with another popular band called Freestyle. The double treat is set to take place on June 1, Friday at The Grove of Anaheim.

Side A is a multi-awarded and certified platinum recording artists. The band is considered as the most durable band in the Philippines and continue to be an ever-innovative musical force in the industry. They’ve reaped gold and platinum awards. As the Philippines premiere band, they inspired a lot of up and coming groups and helped shape the course of the band scene in the country today. Known for their romantic ballads and sold out live performances, the group never stopped reinventing themselves and has worked hard to give their very best in both recordings and live concerts.

Although they have achieved commercial recognition with their WHITE (Hold On, 1991) and BLUE (Tuloy Pa Rin Ako, 1992) Albums, it was in 1987 that their very first recorded song (Eva Marie by Joey Benin) was played in the airwaves and became a turntable hit and paved the way for the band’s self-titled album. But their critical success came largely as a result of the release of “Forevermore” as a CD single, again written by the band’s bassist Joey Benin. The song has won them numerous awards and accolades including Song of the Year award in the prestihous 8th annual (1995) Awit Awards. It was also during the same year that they packed to the rafters the Cuneta Astrodome for their 10th Anniversary Concert and released a live recording of that concert and has reached phenomenal sales of 8x platinum to date.

After numerous sold out major concerts and twelve (12) albums, it was in 1998 that Side A decided to record OPM hits (Ating Awitin) from different notable com[psers of the country which includes among others, works of national artist Lucio San Pedro (Ugoy ng Duyan) and George Canseco (Kailanagn Kita) as their tribute to the masters of original Pilipino music. Their own interpretation of the classic Filipino compositions have earned them the respect of their peers. If is the combined vocal harmony and a positive lyrical outlook to forge an instantly recognizable sound that sets them aprt from other groups. Formed in 1985 and started playing at the Calesa Bar from 1986 to 1989. Until now, Side A continues to dominate the club scene with SRO audiences and constantly performing in a sold-out concerts among Filipino communities abroad in the USA, Canada, Japan, UK, Untited Arab Emirates and Southeast Asia.
