A CONVERSATION WITH KERRY BARDEN, MOTION PICTURE/TELEVISION CASTING DIRECTOR

Kerry Barden has been casting for 18 years. He has cast over 200 films, television shows and plays and has offices in both New York and Los Angeles. Some of his film credits include BOYS DON'T CRY, GOOD WILL HUNTING, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, AMERICAN PSYCHO, I SHOT ANDY WARHOL, THE CIDER HOUSE RULES, UNFAITHFUL, MONSTER'S BALL, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, THE VISITOR and the upcoming CONVICTION, WINTER'S BONE, WHAT'S WRONG WITH VIRGINIA, EVERY DAY, and WIN WIN. He is currently casting THE HELP with director Tate Taylor, MACHINE GUN PREACHER with Marc Forster, CONAN with Marcus Nispel and THE FIELDS with Ami Mann. He was nominated for Emmy Awards for SEX AND THE CITY and THE BRONX IS BURNING. He has also produced four films including the award winning CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER WOMEN starring Helena Bonham Carter and, Aaron Eckart. He is excited to be a part of the Anaheim International Film Festival this year.

An in-depth look at managing the three ring circus of film production. Get the nitty-gritty realities of filmmaking from directors and producers in the industry. From the idea to development of the idea, to writing the script, to finding the funds to make the script a reality, the casting process, gathering the crew, the actual shoot, the post-production process and the ever daunting task of marketing and selling the finished product. In short…learn from professionals how to make the most of what you have with very limited resources.

THE BUCK STOPS HERE: WHAT NEW MEDIA NEEDS IN ORDER TO BECOME AN INDUSTRY

Day after day content creators attempt to crack the code between art and industry. Once the creative process is complete, what can be done to get the most success and longevity out of your project? In this panel we will discuss the direction that new media needs to take in order to become the new and improved network system.

How can consumers sift through the endless seas of content being created daily? Are content creators ready to be judged and guided in the same manner that their network and studio brethren have been for years? In this panel we will hear from creators and critics alike and try to determine if the same rules even apply in today's market.
