A free advanced screening of the series’ first two episodes was held at the Directors Guild of America during Outfest on July 19, 2022, followed by a Q&A after the screening.

Abbi Jacobson (Co-Creator/ EP / Series Star), Will Graham (Co-Creator/ EP), Desta Tedros Reff (EP), Chanté Adams (Series Star/ “Max”), Kelly McCormack (Series Star / “Jess”), Melanie Field (Series Star / “Jo”), and Maybelle Blair (Series Consultant / Original AAGPBL Player) were part of the panel moderated by former original cast, Rosie O’ Donnell.

In this thoroughly charming and blessedly queer ensemble comedy series from Amazon Studios (airs on Amazon Prime on August 12) which was inspired by Penny Marshall’s iconic 1992 film, Carson’s journey introduces us to dozens of women primed to be the next big thing in baseball — never mind the waning crowds and sexist owners with zero confidence in their talent.

Upon receiving a letter from her husband that he’s returning home from the war, Carson Shaw (Abbi Jacobson) does the only sensible thing a woman can do — she immediately runs off to Chicago to try out for the All-American Girls Baseball League.  Along the way, potential romance brews among the players (with The Good Place’s D’Arcy Carden more than obliging as several girls’ object of affection!), and gifted athlete Max Chapman (Chanté Adams) vows to break through barriers and become the league’s first Black player.
