THEY THEM red carpet with cast

Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival’s 40th anniversary concluded on Sunday, July 24th with the World Premiere of Blumhouse PeacockTV original film THEY/THEM held at the Theatre at Ace Hotel.

Executive Producer and film lead star Kevin Bacon with wife Kyra Sedgwick (producer) walked the red carpet together with Executive Producer Scott Turner Schofield, Michael Aguilar (Producer), Director John Logan, and cast members Hayley Griffith, Theo Germaine, Boone Platt, Austin Crute, Anna Lore, Cooper Koch, Monique Kim, Quei Tann, Anna Chlumsky, Carrie Preston, and Darwin del Fabro.  Also attended were Chris Renfro and Fin Argus.

Cast and crew were introduced onstage by Academy-award nominated director John Logan.
A special surprise number from musician Perfume Genius preceded the screening.  The after-party was held at PRECINT rooftop bar adjacent to the Theatre at Ace Hotel, with music provided by DJ Rubella Spread.

In this new horror slasher set at an LGBTQIA+ conversion camp, several queer campers led by iron-willed Jordan (Theo Germain) and Alexandra (Quei Tann), meets Owen Whistler (Kevin Bacon) for a week of programming intended for them to “help find a new sense of freedom.”  As the camp’s method becomes increasingly psychologically unsettling, the campers must work together to protect themselves.  But when an unidentified killer starts claiming victims, things get even more dangerous.
They/Them represents a game-changer for the genre. Where queer characters and themes were once coded, assumed, or outright villainized, here is a story where our community are the heroes and avengers, combating both the horrors wrought by so-called conversion therapy, and the lurking, creepy dangers that make this genre such a thrill. There could not be a more perfectly timed, empowering rebuke to the idea that we can be wished, willed, or legislated out of existence.
THEY/THEM premieres on PeacockTV August 5.
