‘Wind River’ movie review

By Oliver Carnay

Director Taylor Sheridan combines great storytelling with substantial characters giving a perfect summer chilling thriller. Two-time Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen gives a powerful performance where both lives up to its characters. Set in the remote snowy place in Utah to give a Western landscape, the cinematography by “Beasts of the Southern Wild” Ben Richardson is perfect. The writing is also excellent.

WIND RIVER follows a rookie FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) who teams up with a local game tracker with deep community ties and a haunted past (Jeremy Renner) to investigate the murder of a local girl on a remote Native American Reservation in the hopes of solving her mysterious death. Written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, WIND RIVER also stars Gil Birmingham, Jon Bernthal, Julia Jones, Kelsey Asbille, and James Jordan.

The film is currently playing at Arclight Cinemas and Landmark Theaters. Go see it!!!
