MANILA INTERNATIONAL FILM FEST – DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS

A very successful sold out screening of “WHEN I MET YOU IN TOKYO #WIMYIT with Mr. Christopher de Leon attending along with producers Rowena Jamaji and Karishma Gidwani during the Q&A moderated by MIFF Co-Founder Janet Rodriguez Nepales. Truly, there was a clamor for this movie among Filipino-American moviegoers as the screening was a big success.

A surprise special participation of Ms. Vilma Santos happened during the Q&A with the panel. Former “That’s Entertainment” celebrity, Saira Bunny Paras was doing a live feed via Facebook when “Ate Vi” called in to join the conversation. “Bru”!!!, Ate Vi greeted her co-star initially. She thanked the crowd, her perennial partner “Boyet de Leon” (Christopher de Leon, as he is fondly called) was joined by sister Ms. Pinky de Leon (Eleanor Strauss in real life) and Pinky’s daughter Michelle Kuper. It was a big treat for the audience hearing the “Star for All Season’s voice.

Later, Boyet joined the “How to Awards Season Your Film/TV Show” panel discussion upstairs at the VIP Lounge of The TCL Chinese Theatres with the other celebrities, filmmakers, Fil-Am movers and shakers in the Hollywood industry. In the panel were MIFF Exec. Producer Lisa Lew, Annalee Paulo (42West President for West Coast Entertainment Marketing Division), David Magdael (Publicist-Owner of David Magdael & Associates, Media Strategist for Documentary Films and Indies), moderated by Winston Emano (Publicist, Founder Y Mano Media, Chair Emeritus FILAM ARTS). In attendance were Direk Joey Javier Reyes, Dir. Derick Cabrido (MALLARI), Perci Intalan (Producer, Becky & Badette), Michelle Kuper, Pinky de Leon, MIFF Board members Ebradu Ubarde (President) and Omen Ortiz (Chairman), among others.

I missed the Q&A of BECKY & BADETTE but caught comedian Eugene Domingo and producer Perci Intalan at the yellow carpet after the screening.
