Max’s Restaurant celebrates its 77th year anniversary!

By Oliver Carnay

Celebrating its 77th anniversary, Max’s Restaurant, which is a Filipino restaurant chain popular for its tasty tender, juicy, crispy fried chicken, has been a prime fixture for family gatherings and favorite places to go to in the Philippines (established in 1945). Max’s Restaurant Glendale’s General Manager Elvira D Suavillo invited a couple of patrons and Media to commemorate its first existence and the 38 years since Max’s Restaurant extended its chain in the United States.

The first Max’s in Los Angeles was established in 1984 on Wilshire Blvd. (close to St. Basil Church) until it moved to Glendale in 1995. For 27 years, Max’s Restaurant in Glendale has been in service to the Filipino communities, travelers and visitors who crave for its original best fried chicken.

Among invited guests include Los Angeles Consul General Edgar Badajos (who was obliged to sing two songs), MillieGurfinkel (Liberty Entertainment and The Law Offices of Michael J. Gurfinkel), COO of ABS-CBN Global Ltd./ TFC – Aldrin M. Cerrado, 2022 Miss Philippines USA and Miss Young Philippines USA winners, singer- songwriter SAB (who sang her latest single “Happy You Stayed” and the Ed Sheeran hit “We Fell In Love”).  Among media personalities who attended were Jun Lalin (Abante), Joy Marino (Weekend Balita), Celia Abuel and Grace Aguilar (Manila-Up Magazine) were present.

Heartfelt testimonies came from loyal employees like “Manang Necita” (one of the most trusted employees who has been with Max’s since 1984), “Manang Mercy” (since 1996) and “Chef Cristobal” (since 1968, 54 years of service).  A surprise cultural dance was presented by some of the employees and a fun entertaining “Masculados” sexy dance number was also well applauded.  There were gift bags given to all attendees after.
